Who is eligible for the DSA?

If you’re a student with a disability or condition, you may be eligible for the disabled students allowance (DSA). This allowance can help you pay for things like extra costs for 1:1 support, specialist equipment, software, travel, accommodation and other support services.

To be eligible for the DSA, you need to be a UK resident in higher education and you must have a disability or condition that affects your ability to study, such as:

  • Specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia, dyspraxia, dysgraphia and dyscalculia
  • Attention deficit disorder (ADD) or ADHD.
  • Mental health conditions such as anxiety, depression and PTSD.
  • Autistic spectrum disorder (ASD).
  • Long-term illnesses such as HIV, rheumatoid arthritis, diabetes and cancer.
  • Physical impairments.
  • Sensory impairments.

You will need to provide proof of your disability in the form of signed medical evidence orĀ  a diagnostic report from a qualified professional.
