The DSA application process

Completing the DSA application and assessment process can seem daunting, but it doesn’t have to be. The key is to understand what’s involved and to be prepared.

Here’s a quick overview of the steps you’ll need to take:

1. Determine your eligibility. You must meet certain criteria in order to qualify for DSA funding. These include having a disability or condition that impacts your ability to study, and undertaking an eligible course at a recognised institution.

2. Gather supporting evidence. Once you’ve confirmed your eligibility, you’ll need to provide evidence of your disability. This can include medical reports, doctors letters and psychological assessments.

3. Complete the DSA application form. This form will ask for basic information about yourself, your disability, course details and for the evidence you gathered in the previous step.

4. Once your application is approved you will be asked to attend a study needs assessment. This is where we come in. We will assess your needs and send a report to the DSA.

5. You will receive your entitlement letter and be able to access your approved support.
